Capstone 2017

There were many strategies to help students understand operations with negative numbers. These strategies included real world examples, number lines, manipulatives, and teaching for meaning. This topic was a struggle for many students, but it was critical for their success in future math classes. While every method was shown to be beneficial, every method also had its drawbacks. Overall, it seemed important to use a variety of these methods frequently, in order to help students develop a good understanding of operations with negative numbers.
